The Cabinet Card was a type of photograph popular from about 1880 through the turn of the century. They were usually Sepia tone photographs mounted on heavier cardboard. These albumin prints measured about 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches and the reverse often contained advertisements for the photographer. Shaw and Higbee were 2 of a number of photographers that were plying their trade in Chagrin falls during this period.
